TINA SPARKLE

Marsha Satterfield joined her older brother’s rock band at age fourteen. Twelve years later, the brother/sister combination is still rocking hard. They served time in Victory Records’ The Forecast, No Idea Records’ Scouts Honor, and The Amazing Kill-o-watts among other musical groups. Their current musical focus is the hard-rocking Tina Sparkle, which features Marsha on lead guitar and vocals and Atomic on drums and backing vocals. They are joined by the seasoned musicians Dave Moe, of Bloody Mess and the Transfusions, on bass and Davin Field, of Greyson and The Amazing Kill-o-watts on rhythm guitar. Marsha Satterfield comes into her own on All Around Champion Screw Up, letting her fiery guitar rocking and compelling yet seductive confessional lyrics come together in this revealing record. While listening to the aggressive PJ Harvey-esque “Killer Instinct,” it’s easy to understand why she’s become a central Illinois lesbian rock icon. Tina Sparkle drives this point home with the poppy “Radio Heartbeat, she took your” and the heartbreaking “Suck the Panic.” The Satterfield brother/sister combo were raised in the small town of Brimfield, IL, which spans only a few blocks in diameter and is boxed in by corn fields on all sides. Marsha Satterfield laments the natural migration of her peers from the small town to cities in the fan-favorite “How the West was Won.” She sings, “The weekly top ten makes me break all over again/the panic attacks/cigarettes/I’ve become an insomniac/So, I figured out how the West was won/Because it swallowed up my loved ones.” Tina Sparkle is performing regionally and will be touring the country starting in October. They have shared the stage with national acts such as The Reputation, Only Children, Scouts Honor, Ellaina Mendel, Pash, Lewis and Clarke, and 1090 Club.

Sammy McKee (Bitter Airplane, view-finder, fotos, Hyperstatic, Embers Is Sammy, Charlston Entry), Dave Cupp (Caterpillar Tracks, Dophesus, Man Halen, The Spiders), and Shannon McGee (Fairmount Girls, Opi Yum Yum).
"Inching toward the center of Cincinnati, Ohio’s underrated and burgeoning rock scene, Old City pay homage to the best parts of early 90s alternative music while concurrently playing by their own bass-heavy rules. Emerging out of a solo project from vocalist and guitarist, Sammy McKee, the band eventually grew from one to three, adding both Dave Cupp and Gabriel Molnar. The trio channels the likes of The Pixies and the best of Neil Young while unapologetically ripping through track after track of their past four EPs (The Sun Is My Light, Hot Horse, Freezer Burn & Alas, A Lass), a live album at Cincinnati’s premiere rock n' roll bar, MOTR, and a self-titled full length album. Although this band is only three, their sound is full grown. Old City are currently Cupp (drums), McKee (guitar, vocals), and Shannon McGee (bass)."
