WALKER LUKENS
Back in 2013, Austin indie rocker Walker Lukens released his debut full length album, Devoted. It garnered praise from outlets including NPR’s All Songs Considered, American Songwriter, and Billboard, among others. Called “one of the best songwriters in Texas” by Free Press Houston, it was obvious that Lukens was making a name for himself and soon he was touring across the country with his band. After meeting Spoon drummer, Jim Eno, the two collaborated and began creating music that would resonate with many. Their latest project? Lukens’ new EP, Ain’t Got A Reason, available to fans tomorrow. For those of you who are impatient, we’ve got you covered. You can find the exclusive stream of Ain’t Got A Reason today in the player above.
Produced by Eno, the new EP is a brilliant one that hooks you in within seconds. When discussing Ain’t Got A Reason, Lukens shared with us, "These songs are me really trying to make a good ol’ fashioned rock record—something as cool sounding and self-assured as Deguello, Lust for Life, or Let It Be (The Replacements not that Beatles record.) The problem is that i’m not that good at guitar and I’m too in my head with my lyrics. Also, I like hip-hop too much. The Side Arms and I might not cover Kiss on this EP but we do appreciate cheap sunglasses and some weird sins. So, basically, I failed to make a rock record and this what ya get!”
