PORTER FITCH, RACHEL MOUSIE, ZAPRUDER POINT

PORTER FITCH

Porter Fitch is a guitarist who draws from modern and traditional sources, American and otherwise. An omnivorous player, he has worked in projects ranging from emotional indie rock, with Brooklyn's King of Nowhere, to angular hardcore, with Idaho-based Ideomotor. His solo record, New Archaic, blends strains of folk tradition with the open-tuning explorations of American Primitive guitar into a distinct and introspective guitar language. He lives in Covington, Kentucky with two badly behaved cats.

RACHEL MOUSIE

Rachel’s songs feature sparse but meaningful piano parts, looped vocal harmonies, and percussive rhythms (snaps, claps, shaker) behind melodic vocal lines. Music that makes you feel something. In her alternate life (during daytime hours) she’s an Oncology Social Worker and child mental health therapist. She often pulls from personal and professional experiences for lyrical inspiration to address issues that mean something to her. Rachel has 3 albums spanning 15 years of song writing- “Lester the Piano”, “Color”, and “Talk to Your Babies”.

ZAPRUDER POINT

Zapruder Point's songs are in the ballpark of Elliott Smith, Colin Meloy, and Ben Gibbard. Only he doesn’t play guitar as well as Elliott, and he’s maybe half as smart as Colin, and he’s pretty sure he’ll never write anything as good as "I’ll Follow You Into the Dark." Still, he has a unique voice (in the writing sense), and a yearning voice (in the singing sense). His latest album, Backyard Birds, is a meditation on memory, music, and loss -- where the majority of songs are punchier than the subject matter might suggest. His previous albums include Zapruder Point + the Brightness (a full-band, "proper rock" album), and a pair of spare acoustic EPs, Stars + Specks and Unnamed Stars.
