BEN SOLLEE

BEN SOLLEE

Kentucky musician and composer Ben Sollee, has been blurring boundaries with his musical style and career for nearly two decades – his latest album, Long Haul (2024) is no exception. Drawing on tonal influences from the American and global south, Sollee’s vocals and unique cello style thread through each track binding seemingly disparate chapters of his journey – the Long Haul.

After his last album in 2017, Sollee took a break from touring to grow his family and deepen community connections in Louisville, KY. Now a father of three, Sollee has leaned into his work as a composer; scoring films such as LAND from director Robin Wright, and Maggie Morre(s), a John Slattery film featuring Tina Fey and Jon Hamm. He also scored the podcast series Unreformed, which was recently nominated for a Peabody Award. Outside of music, Sollee helped launch the non-profit Canopy, which supports Kentucky businesses positively impacting their communities and planet.

EVA ROSE KING

BEN SOLLEE (Lexington, KY) w/ EVA ROSE KING

Eva Rose King is a Colorado folk artist using rich vocals and acoustic tones to dig deep into memory and vulnerability. Like the clarity of a slow morning, her songs pay homage to the subtle and the beautiful, awakening feelings that had almost slipped away.

Eva is currently releasing singles off her upcoming album, After Tale (releasing February 2025), which explores feelings of loneliness. Drawing on experiences during COVID and from a decade away from home, these songs represent words said too late –  a postscript of nostalgic musings and love letters. This album evokes the styles of Gillian Welch, Leonard Cohen, and Norah Jones.

After Tale was produced by Courtney Hartman (Della Mae) and recorded during a cold, rainy week in Eau Claire, Wisconsin at Hive Studio (Bon Iver, Sufjan Stevens). The tracks were largely recorded live and this fresh energy and organicness is clear throughout the album.

After Tale will be Eva’s second studio album. She released On the Other Side in 2021, which touches on themes of dreams and perception, resilience, and pining. Eva also released Complex Feelings (EP) in 2023, which consists of playful folk-jazz-pop songs and features a more soulful side of Eva’s voice. Notably, Eva found her way to music through the decade she spent playing the viola in symphony orchestras, a background which still influences her music today.

Eva has warmed the stage for Willie Watson, Old Crow Medicine Show, and Sunny War, and was a finalist in the 2024 Telluride Bluegrass Festival's Troubadour Competition.

Eva also holds a second career as an environmental scientist, where she studies biodiversity, climate change and environmental justice. Her passion for nature and equity ring loud in all corners of her life.
